Would you Buy Blog Comments?
First, anyone can just buy some comments? That seems strange and really, hardly worth the money even on the blogs that follow. On the other hand, the comments that are left appear to be ones that are relevant to the post that they are left on and not just some spam comments that are going to be deleted anyway.
Who’s buying the comments?
Are those purchasing the comments big name advertisers that want the link love? Advertisers that should really be hookin’ themselves up with PayPerPost or are they simply other bloggers who don’t have a lot of time to spend commenting so they purchase the comments?
Truthfully, I don’t spend too much time thinking about who’s leaving the comment or what URL they’re linking too as long as the note that has been left is relevant to the post that I have written. On the other hand, if the comment instigates a discussion, I am certainly going to check out their site as I want to find out more about them.
hat exactly are Spam comments?
If the comments are just for rankings, an example, if you find a blog with a “top commentator” section, If you comment enough you get put in their “top commentator” section, IE, you essentially get a link on their website, just for commenting, to see how valuable it is, check out John Chow or Jeremy Shoemoney to see the competition to be in the top spot. But most of these top spots, are only valid for the current month, some have started to refresh them on a weekly basis. So these spam comments, are not for the benefit of the blog itself, they are only for the benefit of the one leaving the comment, that’s why it’s spam. A comment should generally contribute to the overall discussion of the post.
The long of the short story (yes, I meant to say it that way) is because of places like Buy Blog Comments would you revert back to using the nofollow tags and disabling your DoFollow plugin?
It hardly seems worth it to me.
Recently I have done 3 things that I believe are going to start putting my blog somewhere I want it to be…
First, I went with the “U Comment I Follow” movement because I would want that on another blog for my comments. Secondly, I hooked myself up with my Simple Tags plugin which is linking all of my posts back to relevant tags on Technorati. Lastly, I signed up with MyBlogLog which is sending crazy traffic this way – and I love it because I can easily return the visit when I see new pics on MyBlogLog’s Recent Visitors.
What I suppose is disappointing in the case of this new website is that someone is building a company based on the foundation of goodness from bloggers. But the truth of the matter is that if comments aren’t fishy and the link back isn’t to porn, few of us are going to see that it’s really spam and allow it onto the blog.
Who knows, maybe you already have.
So, what’s your opinion? Would you be okay knowing that one, two, or three comments left on your blog were purchased?

I don’t really mind where comments come from as long as they add value to my blog. If they are like a spam comment but I can’t be sure, I would maybe leave the comment up, but delete it after the post has aged so the link doesn’t bleed traffic and degrade my page authority.
But at first, the simple fact of any comments appearing may be the catalyst for more commentators to make an appearance. Being first may be a goal for some and a risk for others.
I guess people that buy comments are maybe not realising this, they are probably paying for a link building service.
