WPMU & Blog Communities

“One of the exciting things about working on WPMU is the ideas other people have for it. James Farmer is building communities based on physical location, but even within those there’ll be mini communities. Those that live in certain suburbs might group together, or people from different scenes in a locality would naturally come together.

I think we can help that.

In the last few days I added the first bits of code to make community blogging a reality – on Matt’s suggestion, WPMU now has global categories! This will make it very easy for people to contribute to communities on their site.

As James puts it, your blog is your “digital identity” and when you post to a community you become a member of that community. Others will identify you with that community.
Interesting times ahead.”
